Christmas crime prevention tips #1 Pickpockets |
||
|
Dear residents,
Christmas season is full of joy and shopping!
This is also the favourite season of pickpockets/criminals who take advantage of crowd places to commit crime. Please watch out your belongings all the times. Some professional pickpockets dress smart and carry well known brand shopping bags to deceive victims and make them feel safe around. Here are five tips to help keep you safe as you grab those last-minute gifts: If you’re carrying a handbag, make sure it is securely fastened and carry it in front of you. Mobile phones and wallets in back pockets are a target - keep them secure and out of sight. Be careful at cash machines and when paying by card - shield your PIN at all times. Do not leave valuables or Christmas presents in your car. If this is unavoidable, make sure they’re out of sight. Park in a well-lit area or an attended car park – and remember to lock your vehicle.
Follow the link below to learn how to spot pickpockets and their techniques and share it with family, friends and elderly neighbours. https://www.met.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/personal-safety-how-to-stay-safe/pickpocketing/
